MARCELLE IS AN ARTIST AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER LIVING AND CREATING IN BROOKLYN, NY. BORN AND RAISED AMONG THE MOUNTAINS OF MINAS GERAIS, BRASIL, SHE IMMIGRATED TO THE US IN 2016.
I work between illustration, figure drawing, mixed-media, graphic design, and storytelling, moving fluidly between physical and digital.
As an artist, I'm guided by experimentation and play. I enjoy shifting themes, mediums, and textures, to explore my personal sense of beauty, wonder and worry. I often come back to questions of womanhood, migration, the human body, the natural world and a persistent search for home.
Alongside my artistic practice, I work as a designer, translating audience research, and context into visual language and narrative that communicate with intention.
My inspiration comes from a semi-nomadic life, a belief in poetry, and a lifelong attention to landscape, memory, conflicts and contradictions.
